Mooooooo

Yes, it's been a long time. My sincere apologies to my avid readers. Buy me a laptop and I'll update my blog twice a day. :) So what's new with me? Well, classes ended last week, and I've been in a fog for the pass two weeks or so. Just waking up now. After crashing over the past weekend, I made my way to Woodstock CT to help out on the farm and learn how the whole business works.

First off, CT is beautiful. No wonder way so many richies move there. A girl from my class and I stayed at a small dairy farm in Northern CT. About 250 cows, 80 freshened (producing milk). On Monday we toured the facility, shoveled cow shit, played with the massive, angry bull, visited the large animal veterinary services down there, vaccinated some cows, and helped with the evening milking. I bet if people saw how the cows were kept and the whole milking process, many would stop drinking milk. Then we ate dinner with the farmer and his wife and stayed at their house. They were extremely nice to us. Then we woke up at 3AM to milk the cows again in the morning. Quite an experience, let me tell you. Then the farmer showed us around Woodstock some more. Million dollar homes and 'exclusive' prep schools. We helped milk the cows again Tuesday night and then headed back to the Worc area. Man, were my overall covered with crap. The calves were so cute, there was a really curious one that I wanted to take home. I think their eyelashes really make them super cute. The cows are really funny. We'd be standing there listening to the farmer talk and they'd just come up right behind us and start sniffing and chewing our clothes. So, I'd feel something strange and look back and see this massive, one-ton weighing cow right behind me, staring me down. Then I'd raise my arms and they'd take off running in the opposite direction. Hilarious :) I wish I took pictures.

Then Wednesday to Friday I just vegged out at home. Less than three days at home and I want to go back to Grafton already. At least work is starting up to keep me busy. And money is nice...

Anyways, have to head to bed. Long day tomorrow.
