Update on holes

So, I'd like to start off with an update to cows with holes post from a while back. So, it turns out Tufts has a cow with a fistula in is side into it's rumen. There like this rubber plug with a hole the size of a CD into the stomach of "Portia". She hangs out in the horse barn. You need to uncork the rubber stopper to open it. Apparently, it's not just for vet student's amusement. If a cow has a rumen problem, say acidic rumen contents, "Portia" (a play on porthole) can donate her rumen fluid to the sick cow. Amazing. She's very sweet and doesn't mind people putting their hands in there.

Work has been going well. Very tiring, but its fun to show off the things I've learned so far. I've been learning a lot too. I even got a girl who has probably never touched a cow to make one pee (on purpose). I haven't worked in a while, and I think its' showing. I'm exhausted... It's bedtime.

Actually, you just rub her vulva and area below it up and down. Kinda gross and pseudosexual. Funny though :) I know how to make a horse and a sheep pee on purpose too.
