Weekend update

I should be studying...but...eh. I'm waiting to go out to dinner and just can't concentrate. So figured I'd post about my weekend. After classes Friday I took a nap to prepare for a long night. Nancy and I drove to Cambridge to meet Jennie and Lil. We ate at a cafe then headed to T.T's to see some bands. I like T.T's but the drinks are SOOO watered down. Interesting crowd. The first band was eh, second rocked (I even bought their CD and have been listening to it today), the third band sucked, and the last band, was good. We took a break from the sucky band and went outside for air. I bummed a butt off some guy who followed us out who turned out to play guitar for the first band. Gave me their free CD. I joked to Nancy that someday I'll have a great story when he gets famous that I met him when he was still local. Thus, the most famous person I have ever officially met.

Saturday I slept in and then worked in the ER. I volunteered to cover a fourth year's shift so they could go to their prom. Vet school prom = senior banquet. The ER of course got slammed. Two docs, one tech, and a bunch of second years that knew very little. Oh boy. I handled two cases, triaged and everything. Not super exciting, a lung mass that was referred to Tufts and an anal gland abscess. The first cat went to the ICU and the abscess got popped and sent home an antibiotics. Other than that I assisted. I didn't get to put any IVs, but maybe some day :) Te worst part of the night was when I had to get the phone. First call was a client with an obscure question about her dogs heart medicine that I had no clue about, second was an old, distraught, crying woman who's cat just died and wanted to give it to Tufts, and lastly the first thing the owner asked was doesn't any there speak Spanish and that's a bad way to start a phone convo. Of course there wasn't and I had to decipher. She ended up bringing the very sick puppy in. I left at 1am when things quieted down.

Sunday: slept in and studied and went to dinner. If anything else exciting happens before Monday, I'll post :)
