WHDH-TV - Boston - Special Report - Poisoned produce

Basically, two people in the last year got sick cuz they didn't wash their fruit and got E. coli or salmonella. They got diarrhea. One of the kids was in the hospital for 3 months, but the ER doc must have missed the diagnosis. The news made it sound like thousands of people are dying everyday.

The evil media at work. I was at stop and shop and over heard two women talking about the piece they heard on the news about dangerous produce. Went like this:
"Did you see the news last night, about produce?"
"No, what they say?"
"Something about it being dangerous, like the toxins they spray on them or something"
"Well, I won't buy lettuce today then"
And they walked out of the produce section without picking anything up.

A. People should not listen to the news, or, even better, be very critcal about it and maybe learn something.
B. The media sucks
C. The kids of the two women above are probably fat and they don't eat enough veggies/good stuff anyway
D. The supermarket doesn't do enough to tell you to wash ALL fruits and veggies and to do it with soap.
