Blog Palooza

I've been posting a lot. Better yet, this post is a veterinary school related/quasi personal.

We have had several nasty labs lately, in addition to the cow rectal practice mornings. A few weeks ago we played with dead horse legs. A fellow student mentioned that we have become desensitized to the gross factor and that if a non-vet person walked in would be appalled at what we were doing. This again occurred to me during the obstertics lab while 40 of us stood around and watched the vet cut up a dead calve with braided wire. And again today in lab while a pathologist cut up a recently dead horse with an 8 inch boning knife and watch blood pool on the floor. There are always some groans or dismayed faces in these labs, more so today. Oddly enough, as the pathologist cut open the cecum, letting digesta pour out, which apparently smelled bad, a tour guide and interviewees entered the lab. Here's your first intro to vet school. It was pretty funny.

While in lab, people have made remarks like "Now it's starting to smell in here" or "That reeks" direct towards me. Not that I smell, but lab does. I usually just nod and smile in agreement since I can't smell and I don't want to explain myself. Sometimes feeling sassy, I'll say "Oh, does it?"

Guys complain about girls being complicated, but some guys are just as bad.
